Life Photos of Foreign Beauties: Issue 172 - Photography of an Amateur Model

Lisbon-based amateur model Sofia Reis, 24, takes center stage in Issue 172 of Life Photos of Foreign Beauties, with a series capturing her daily life in Portugal’s coastal capital. The unpolished yet charming shots, taken by local photographer Ana Costa, showcase Reis in moments of quiet routine—from walking her dog along the Tagus River to arranging fresh flowers in her apartment. Her 173cm frame, often clad in linen dresses and leather sandals, mirrors the city’s laid-back, sun-soaked energy.

Costa, who met Reis at a neighborhood market, focused on “beauty in the mundane.” She avoided posed setups, instead documenting Reis folding laundry, sipping port wine on her balcony, or laughing while cooking. “Sofia’s smile and the way she moves feel genuine,” Costa noted. The photos use natural light, with soft sunbeams highlighting Reis’ freckles and wavy caramel hair, creating a warm, inviting tone.

Reis, a part-time art teacher, never considered modeling until Costa suggested the project. “I was nervous at first, but Ana made it feel like hanging out,” she shared. Standout images include one of her leaning against a weathered blue door, holding a vintage book, and another of her feet in espadrilles, toes sinking into sand at Cascais Beach—scenes that feel like a peek into a friend’s life.

The series has resonated with readers, who praise its “authenticity” and “relatable charm.” Unlike glossy fashion spreads, these photos emphasize everyday grace, with Reis wearing affordable brands like local label Marinha and thrifted finds. “It’s not about being perfect,” Costa said. “It’s about feeling like yourself.”

As Issue 172 hits stands, Reis hopes the photos inspire others to embrace their own routines. “Beauty isn’t just in special occasions,” she said. “It’s in the small, ordinary moments.”
